Driving Test Information

There are a number of elements to passing
your driving Test. The two main elements
are the
Theory
Test and the Practical
Driving Test.
Theory Test
The test is made up of two elements – a
Multiple Choice test and a Hazard Perception
test.
Multiple Choice Test
This is taken using a touch screen computer.
A practise session before the test will
show you how to use the computer and
how to answer the questions. There are
50 questions in total and you will be
allowed a maximum of 57 minutes to answer
them. You must score 43 or more correctly
in order to pass. All pupils of Safestyle
Driving Lessons will be offered additional
training on these questions on request.
The Hazard Perception Test
Following the multiple choice test you
will be allowed a break of up to 3 minutes
after which the Hazard Perception element
will begin. A video will play which explains
how to take the test. During the course
of the test you will see 14 film clips
of traffic scenes from a driver’s
point of view. In each clip a hazard;
(something that makes the driver slow,
stop, change direction) will develop.
As soon as you recognise a hazard developing
you need to press the right or left mouse
button. The sooner the hazard is recognised,
the more points scored. The pass rate
is 44 out of a possible 75 points. All
Safestyle Driving Lesson pupils
will be offered additional help on this
subject
on request.
